Platform: Windows (All Versions)

Review by George Norman (Cybersecurity Editor)

There are lots of things that you are going to like about DbSchema: the fact that it is available for all major operating systems, the fact that it is compatible with all relational databases, the fact that you don’t have to be a pro to access its functionality, and the fact that it is a properly good database tool that can be used to design, document and manage databases.

As mentioned above, DbSchema is available for multiple platforms: Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. The application is available as an installer or as a portable ZIP package. Focusing on Windows alone, it must be said that getting DbSchema up and running on a PC will not take long and will not require much effort.

In the upper left hand corner, where it’s usually located, there’s a File Menu and a toolbar with buttons for various bits of functionality. On the interface’s main panel there’s a Welcome Text and links to connect to a database, open an SQL file, open a sample project, view video tutorials, and more. The interface provides support for skins and allows you to configure the diagram skin.

The DbSchema database designer has lots of functionality to offer. Here’s a quick look at the main features: connect to a database (all relational databases are supported); create interactive diagrams; share DbSchema projects with other team members; design new schema offline; open files in SQL Editor; visual query builder; random data generator; convert schema, and more.

DbSchema is available as a Free and as an Ultimate edition. DbSchema Free has limited functionality to offer; DbSchema Ultimate is free to use for a trial period of 15 days.

Easily create interactive diagrams with the DbSchema database designer.

DbSchema is available for multiple platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux. DbSchema is available as an installer and as a portable version. The interface provides support for skins and is user friendly. Cons

DbSchema Free has limited functionality to offer; DbSchema Ultimate is free to use for 15 days.
